Thank you!

The biggest thing you can afford if your serious. Remember height is most important but you also need sufficent floor space to create warm/cool temp gradiant. The smallest thing i would attempt to use, only if there not full grown(11 inches )would be a 29-30 gal tall. And if you want to keep them happy and healthy you'll eventually want something bigger. I use a 120 gal now for 3. Planning on keeping 2 more of my female hatchlings, and plan on building a removable top that will fit on top and give them more height. Ive seen some nice tanks that are prob in the 60-80 gal range that have height that would work nice.

When mine was in a 30 he seemed kinda cramped and grew into it within 2 weeks that I got it. He also never barked or made any noise. I just got him a 65 (4'L x 18"W x 18"H) and hes been barking and cruisin around all around lookin much happier. I plan to put a female in there pretty soon.

thank you! i was thinking along the line of 3'L x 4'H x 2'D, or something in that size. Do you think this is ok?

Also, is it better just to have the one female per male, or two females for breeding?

Thanks

Claire

That size tank should be fine. I have two females with my male but am going to keep one or two of my female hatchlings. I think they say you should have more than one female for a male. With my experience I would think a pair would be fine, long as theres no conflicts between them.
