I have a pair of FL bandeds and I keep them in 10 gallon aquaria. Like you, I have many other snakes and keep them in sterilite boxes in rack systems with heat tape. But the bandeds really seem to like to bask under a light and I also provide them with a large water container that I try to keep stocked with fish most of the time. The water container I use wouldn't fit in the boxes in my rack system. Overall, I do think they could be raised in shoeboxes but it's just easier for me to keep them as I want to in aquariums.
