Another picture - Shazzbot this time

Here's one of the chubb-o Shazzbot. She's much larger than Scuttlebutt, who's roughly the same age.

If anyone has had experience with ingenious and successful ways of encouraging an ill-tempered ornate female to accept a mate, let me know! She and Scuttlebutt cannot be housed together, though I was intending for them to be mates. She's as mean as she is fat.

Dan says this may not be the right time of year to introduce them to each other. You may have better success in the Spring when mating naturally occurs and Cupid zings his arrows.

In my opinion ornates are a bit tougher than most other uros to pair up. This becomes especially true if the female is larger than the male. I've seen or heard it time and time again, don't know why. Keep working on it, you never know what they'll do.

She looks beautiftul! Is there any way you can arrange thier enclosures so they can easily see each other on a daily basis? I'm not sure what to try for older Ornates but I know it is recommended that male/female pairs grow up together or at least females grow up seeing the male you wish to pair her with.
