Bark Chips?????

Blissguy123 Jul 25, 2003 03:50 PM

Is it alright to put a full grown leo on bark chips? The chips are about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch so i wouldn't think she would have a problem about swallowing them. I defenately made sure they weren't ceder (for obvious reasons) before i put them in her enclosure. Thanks for any replies

I heard bark chips are bad because they get in the leos eyes. I dont believe that they are good for leos to be put on.

I've been thinking about changing the substrate to slate or tile. Thats an excellant idea, whoever first thought of it. But i have one more question. I use a light to heat my leos enclosure. Would the tile heat up because of the light shining on it?

Thanks

Yes, the tile will heat up but not alot. It also depends on what wattage you use. I have a 20L tank with a 50 watt bulb on top (red light) and it warms it pretty well.

Your gecko could probably survive on wood chips, but they have delicate feet and toes. I imagine it would be kinda like you having all gravel floors in your house, and no shoes.
