One more Q: Heat light at night?

star Jan 24, 2006 10:37 AM

I have never had a heat lamp on at night for Squirt and Taco, just an under the tank heat pad in one area. my Boyfriend suggested that I get a heat lamp to possibly perk up Squirt (he's had lot's of reptiles so he's not a beginner at this, just not collareds). What do you think? Would that be too much heat at night?

Advice: thanks in advance!

I don't use a heat light at night. In the wild it gets really cold at night. But it could be better for them to be warm at night.

Night time heat shouldn't be necessary to keep the lizards healthy. I don't think a heating pad on low would hurt (as long as it's off when the heat lamps are on to prevent burns), but I really don't think that the drop at night is Squirt's problem.

What did they tell you at the store? Did you get any Panacur or Flagyl by any chance?

Squirt ate a huge cricket that was well dusted last night, so I didn't want to move her after that. So we didn't go to the shop.

Maybe tonight or tomorrow, depending on how she looks.

for my collareds, just room temp until morning then the lights are back on.

I agree thats not your problem.
