She appears to be gravid with a tummy full of "brown tail" hybrids!!!
This will be the last year he breeds unless all my babies come out with black tails......His tail is dark but more than likely not "marketable" and what everyone is looking for. He is an amazing animal and one of my favorites here, for having a pretty mellow disposition......for the most part! My wife's gonna kill me....LOL

Nice uni. Your browntail actualy looks like a uni, almost, real close but I am no expert. Who knows maby you will get some black tailed animals out of the deal. Nice looking animals looks like they are well cared for......Bill

If your wife kills you...can I have that Brown tail?
Nice looking animal indeed.
Thanks for sharing,
Fred Albury
P.S.
Seriously, if she kills you can you will it to me? I'll
pick it up, she wont have to do anything.
Sure you can have him. I will write it in my will.........
I'm such a nice guy!
Give Fred the brown tail by all means.....but can I have your wife's telephone number please?!!!!.....Ooh just a thought.......maybe that's NOT your wife in the picture.....maybe that's why she's gonna kill you??? LOL
I'd call that a Uni and not think twice about breeding him and selling offspring as such...Unless the pic is a poor one..

You offered some real nice advice when I posted pics of the BT and this guy mating. More than likely my BT is gravid. Whether or not she lays a good clutch is another thing. That pic isn't the best of my male either. I believe at the very least he is an intergrade. His ventral portion of his tail is dark and I wouldn't say he is a Uni because he isn't uniformly one color. The guy I got him from doesn't really know his lineage but got him from a guy named Chris Shulse. I am guessing he is a Honduran locale, that's what I have heard from folks describing his lokks as and that's where most of the "melanurus" are coming out of.
This animal was sold as a BT to the previous owner and to myself. Again......I am new to Dry's and I just suspected that melanurus vary in color and I agree with that, however their marketability drastically changes when you have "brown tails". I am not fully convinced he isn't a melanurus but he is a retired breeder as of today.
If I get a clutch of babies I will be keeping them all or giving some away to people to see how they turn out. But I guess it would be a real gray area if I sold them as pure BT's, at leaast that is what I am getting.
Take care-
Brett
I know my name is not Carl but my female looks like your male and she is from Honduras.......I will try for a pic.

I know Chris, he lives about 20 miles from he. He had both BT's and Uni's at one point, but I never saw them.
I believe he got his from a guy in Chicago, Brad Scilaba (spelling??)I believe.
Chris lurks here occasionally, maybe he'll jump in...

Scialabba still hanging around? I haven't heard from him in a long time..I thought he was getting out of Dry's to do some other "project"..Can't remember what it was, Boa's/pythons or something..
He had some very nice animals and knows his stuff, so if he sold it as a BT, I guess I'd have to go along with him..
Still that "browntail" looks awfully nice!!

Thanks Carl. I will post some more pics soon. Took him out last night and he is close to 8' and 5lbs.
It is my understanding that Brad lost most of his collection. I managed to acquire two pairs of neonate D. m melanurus and D. m unicolor from him, prior to the demise of his collection. Unfortunately, one pair of the D. m unicolor I acquired ended up being D. m melanurus, but they have turned out to be absolutely incredible specimens, so no complaints on my end.
I believe Chris Shulse is working with a few Drys from Brad's line, as I have acquired a couple of pairs from him as well...
Best regards,
Jeff

I got no money, my house has a huge mortgage and very little equity, my car has a huge payment and balance as well as the truck, lotsa credit card bills so it looks like all I have worth anything is the snakes and my wife of course.....oh and forgot the dogs.

rolling rock beer in the fridge...............all three of them......told you I was broke.
i think that little guy may have gotten one or two of 'em. he seems to have a beer muscle. LOL!
I'll take the lil dog. It would be fun to get drunk and watch him try to hump my boxer...lol. That picture is funny as hell man! He's like the little engine that could.
