Harlequin Ball, is it a morph, is it genetic, what are the characteristics?

EmberBall Jan 24, 2006 04:33 PM

I have seen several Balls for sale lately, claiming to be Harlequins, or Harlaquins. They all look different, which got me thinking about the genetics, and what an actual Harlequin looks like. So, is there a genetic morph called a Harlequin, and if so, is it simple recessive, Dom, etc? And, what are the characteristics?

Here are a few more pics ... I would just add their bellies are not totally clear but kinda pearly with some markings. The Harlequin trait has been reproduced with a Mojave ... I've seen two different Mojave clutches with Harlequin markings .. Jeremy Stone had one and I think Steve Roussis had the other ... others have claimed to produce Pastel Harlequins and Yellow Belly Harquins but I'm never seen any great photos yet .... if anyone has any please post them.

cheers, John

Now you've got me curious, I lost touch with the morphs that aren't well known yet and I am getting abck into the hobby now. I have yet to hear about them and those pics look like one of my normal males, so I am just curious, what are the traits?
