Handling West African Green Mambas

elapid62 Jul 25, 2003 04:10 PM

I owne a large west african green mamba. I have handled Adult W/C Black necked spitters. 6 foot plus, 9 foot king cobras, and most all the vipiers. From gabby, to rhinos, to most all the rattle snakes. "But I have yet to try my green mamba." (Tailing/ hooking That is) Could anyone tell me what to expect? I know they are fast. But??? Thanks

I have greens, I always tail mine, they get far less stressed that way, I go very slow as they are easy to spook, they are fast, but normally not aggressive, they also generally try and get away from you not come at you, but my black is a different story,

be very slow , they move very differently to cobras, watch them for a couple of weeks, watch them move and react, everything is noticed and reacted to, the most dangerous part is getting them out , take your time , email me if you want, pete@bigsnakes.com
