pores...?

flbriaz Jan 24, 2006 08:42 PM

Yoshi's pores (on his hind quarters) have recently begun excreting this almost skin like substance. He's going through a shed right now, too. I was just wondering what these little spindles are and how often do they excrete these?

Don't worry - it's normal. I believe it's for scent marking things, but someone will post if I believe incorrectly.

lol. Good. I just wonder what their purpose is? Scent marking would make sense.

drag their hind quarters along the ground/ rocks... whatever, and leave a scent, to say " I am here" like Torey said, marking territory.
It leaves a waxy trial from the pores, and has a scent to it.

I have seen them many times on my male lizards and looked it up one time. I believe the white is called keratin, hope I spelled that right, lol

All normal

Yep. Ra (my male mali) had tons of this stuff coming out of his pores this year. He scent-marks stuff often, especially the food bowls, and even his mate, Isis.
