If you're sure it's not wild caught and it's only been three weeks, don't panic. Leave him alone for another week and try again. They do tend to go off feed this time of year also. As for him staying in his hide 24/7, you need to remember that they are nocturnal. He might be coming out at three or four in the morning while you sleep. I can't remember you posting about this before or not, so if you could tell us how old/long he is and the temps and humidity in the enclosure we might be able to pinpoint something.

One question, what is a cerdar cave? Hopefully that wasnt a typo of cedar. Cedar kills reptiles.

Hey thanks for your help guys. So info on him, he is a little less than 2 feet in lenght, he is really fat and round but has a tiny head, dont know if that is important. I have a long 20 gallon glass tank with a small undertank heater, I have a 40 watt ceramic bulb that keeps the temp. around 88 F and he has a basking spot of about 95 F. I have a fluorescent light that I keep on for like 10 hr a day. He used to come out at night like right after his fluorescent light went out but now he doesnt. I will wake up at like 1 or 2 AM and he will still not have moved. I dont understand. This is what I mean when I say cedar of wood cave thing,

He used to be active and now he is just lazy and sits on his ass all day and night. I am about ready to divorce him! No I love him I would never leave him, I only hope he is okay.

LOLOL, divorce him!! Where do you live that you can marry snakes . You mentioned that he was fat. How Fat? Obesity CAN have it's draw backs ya know. Besides makin' him lazy, he'll not be real sexually active when he comes of age either. Not to mention just the strain on his normal all around health. Don't know how often or what you feed him, but you might wanna consider cuttin' back some.

Your snake is behaving normally. These snakes really don't do all that much.

Leave him alone, don't bother him, don't handle him, just let him be until he has eaten several meals in a row.

Then begin a slow regiment of handling. Like once a week for 10 minutes at first.

You know he can live for 30 years, right?

So... if it takes you 6 months or even a year before you can handle him regularly and before you see him moving around enough, its really no big loss compared to the amount of time you'll have with him once he's chilled out.

BP's are timid little guys and like to hide. He's doing what he likes ... well done.
