Sometimes the meal worms turn into beetles before she eats them. Are the beetles ok to eat or not? I'm seen them in there before, but when I clean the cage or look for them they're gone. I guess that mean she ate them? Could they be harmful?

I scrub my tanks at least 2 times a month and i also see these beetles i dont know if they are bad for them but i check their tanks daily . when i see them i just thow them out.my tangerine leo only eats meal worms he is very lazy when it comes to chasing food.

so.. does anyone know, i am curious too..

No stage of the mealworm is harmful to the gecko eating it... They'll digest the hard shell or expel it in their feces...Nothing big...The pupae won't hurt them either.. I've got leos who eat all lifestages of mealies.. never had a problem at all... They'd be eating even harder shelled beetles in the wild.. like Scarabs and dung beetles.. Its why I'm always so surprised to find people so worried about the amount of "chitin" in a feeder insect.. their wild diet sure in the heck wouldn't be devoid of protective chiting, toxins, etc.
