HELP- What's going on here?

Davey Jan 25, 2006 09:10 AM

Hello All,
My Leopard tortoise has developed this 'condition" overnight. The left side of his upper head has changed color in this one small area. Is this a sign of an infection that should be treated? He has been sleeping more than usual the last two days & didn't eat his breakfast yesterday. When I saw that I gave him a soaking, thinking that maybe he was constipated. He did a HUGE poop that was formed. He is up & eating right now. His eyes are clear. There are no bubbles or discharge coming from his nostrils. Could he have just rubbed the skin off on a rock or is this a sign that will require a trip to the vet?

All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Davey

He shed... just like a snake. This is not a big deal and it is very healthy.

I guess this is the exciting part of being a new tortoise keeper. Thank God I've got resources such as yourself to help me learn.

Many, many thanks for the peace of mind!
