Ok, i have a 10 month old PacMan frog....i think hes a male...hes NEVER chirped but hes jumped out of his hole, puffed up a little bigger than a baseball and barked, i mean BARKED VERY loudly at me (so loud my dog barked back (i think maybe similar to a tokay gecko but [bleep]ing loud!)) and began lunging at me! Is he a Male?? And, he does this kind of often...and once in a while ill find him upside down! Either in his water dish (rarely) and most often in the middle of the tank, away from his favorite hole. His legs seem ok, he tucks them under his body and digs with them alright.
******But as of lately he has been burried a little and his eyes are closed and have a milky colored second eye lid looking thing......i have figured out that he is hibernating, but what do i do?? He hasnt eaten in a while...almost a month..he ate, 2 weeks later he shed, then when i tried to feed him a small (stunned) mouse again last week, he lunged at it, mouth closed (like a head butt) then he waited a few mins then he lunged out at it and puffed up (no barking) like he was scaring it away (i know its for defense)...then about 5 days later...hes hibernating. I also noticed a fruit fly in the tank, is this a problem? What will happen if i have to change the substrate while hes like this? Should i cover him up more w/ dirt? Should i keep him soaked or let him dry a little? Should i simulate the dry season? Can i bring him out of it? Is this stressful? Is he in danger? Should i buy a new heating pad to keep it warmer? (its hard to get it above 80...usually around 75) What's the best colored light for the tank? (i currently use blue reptile bulb) What tempurature and Humidity % should it be at?
