Breeding my reverse oketee's?

joshhutto Jan 25, 2006 10:06 PM

I have a pair of some very nice reverse oketee's that I've been working with for about 1.5-2 yrs (have to check records as to when I bought them). The female is appr 43" and the male is appr. 38". I keep them in my ball python room since my cat really really likes them. Since I have cooled my BP room and started warming up I figured I'd put the corns together to see what happens. The male shows the typical reaction, jerks his head and crawls in short jerky bursts but the female just get's away from him as quick as possible. This is the first time I've tried breeding corns but have alot of exp with large pythons, ball pythons and numerous venomous. Is there anything I can do to help her get a little more enthusiastic about breeding? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank's in advance,
Josh Hutto, JKReptiles

Females are most receptive after they shed following hibernation. They will also shed about 10 days before laying eggs. My corns often are hooked up early in the morning, before I go to work. After your female sheds, leave the pair together for 2-3 weeks, separating them for feeding purposes.
