Hypo?

lily_black Jan 27, 2006 12:06 AM

Hi,
I got this snake from Petco about a year ago. He's from gourmet rodent, and he was on sale at the time. I'd never seen such a light snake there before. Sorry to bother you all with such a crappy picture of him, it's from my camera phone and the only source I have at the moment. The snake has really light eyes, hardly any markings on his belly, and hardly and black until the start of his tail. He's about 3 feet long now.

Thanks!

Oh crap,
I finally got a computer, it's been years since I've had alot of access to one, and apparently I don't how to post a picture. I apologize.

Ok,
I think I figured it out.

I love the snake anyway, just curious is all.
Once again sorry for the crappy picture.

.. its a nice normal. Hypos arent so much light as they are redish. Here is a pic of one of my hypos:

Thanks for your reply!

I can see that your snake is obviously hypo. It's gorgeous! I just get confused. On the classified here, (I don't know how to make a direct link, sorry!)

These snakes are hypos. They look fairly normal too me. (Mine also looks normal but light to me. I'm trying to understand the difference!) But alas I am an idiot and by no means an expert.

Confused!

Those are Pastels, not hypos. Two diffrent traits.

lily_black Jan 27, 2006 01:25 AM

Alright, I'm a complete idiot now.
If you've got the time, what's the difference? I'm somewhat familiar with corn snake morphs, but it seems to me like every species has different names for similar genetic mutations. And then different breeders throw in their own names.

Just curious.

Thanks!

Here is a link to some descriptions of pastel and hypo as well as a lot of other boa mutations. I hope it helps.
