i have 1 male and 4 feamles in a coustom built cage. i have a baskin light,2 Reptisun 10.0 High Output UVB Fluorescent Light Series, and Active UVHeat Mercury Vapor Lamps. and they still not breeding!!

First thing I would do is get them all into their own cages, harrems aren't the most effective thing IMO. If one or more of your females is dominating your male it can create problems with breeding. After that I would cycle your male 1 week together, 1 week apart, 1 more week together and then separate for good. I would give him a week or 2 downtime also before moving on to the next female. I'm assuming everyone is of age and size to be bred also and that you've already switched your girls over to a breeding diet.

what is the diet that i should feed my females?

PHLdyPayne Jan 28, 2006 01:53 PM

Breeding females should get extra calcium, protein and some extra fat, to help offset the drain of producing eggs. Extra servings of dusted crickets or other insects deffinitely helps.

what kind of powder should i used to help them want to breed?

heartmountain Jan 29, 2006 01:26 AM

To make them want to breed??? Nothing, there is no beardie aphrodisiac. What we're talking about is once your female is bred or in preperation for it so that she doesn't crash as hard from the stress of breeding.

I use TrexVGF but Minerall I and good old Repcal are also both great. NO pinkies ever, f/t or live, they are not good for them.

well since i can' feed them pinikies what can i feed them?

heartmountain Jan 29, 2006 06:50 PM

The only thing pinkies were ever good for is adding weight quick, a few superworms or a few waxworms will do the same thing without the risks. Given a good staple diet there really isn't any reason that you would need to give them a boost except maybe a female during breeding season, in that case I just up the number of bugs they get and it all works out.

i want to say thanks to everyone!!!!

Are you 100% sure your male dragon is in fact a male? One to check that is easy is to place the dragon on a flat surface, facing away from you, left his tail up to about 90 degrees and look at the area just before the vent (on tail side of vent). While gently twisting the tail side to side, check that area. If you see a single central bulg, she's a female. If you see two bulges or an hour glass shape, it's a male.

Another thing to try and place a mirror into the male's tank so he can see his reflection. Thinking another male is in with him may get him all fired up and more ready to breed the females.

yes is a male because he was fighting with the other male i had in the cage with them. since i sold that other male. he been tried to breed with the females and they not letting him. nor they let the other male breed.
