female won't stop laying eggs

geicogecko Jan 27, 2006 01:39 PM

I bought this beautiful adult jungle female last summer and she has not been with a male since then if she had at all with the previous owner. She lays eggs about once a month and I have never heard of a female doing this so often without a male.

Female geckos can lay eggs on their own w/o being paired with a male. The eggs will not be fertile, however.

Hi,
Im new at all this, but I did some reading up on this stuff. I recently just purchased a female who happened to be pregnant with 4 eggs. She layed 2 yesterday, and the other 2 are not yet all the way developed. It only takes 1 time during breeding season to lay up to 20 eggs. They lay 2 eggs every 2-4 weeks (which is about right from what you said)For instance. If you put the male in with the female for 24 hours, thats all it takes for her to have 20 eggs. (10 clutches) SOme may not be fertile, but most will be, if she is experienced at breeding. If shes only laid 4 clutches, be ready to expect 6 more!! Hope this helps!
