lrptls Jul 25, 2003 07:10 PM

i dont even think anerythristic is a morph but i was thinking some one could help me. i think i have an anerythristic colombian red tail boa, but she has an all pink belly. pink is sort of a red pigment isn't it? or maybe anerthristic's can have pink, i dont know...

As I understand it, anerythristic boas come in shades of gray. So I don't think your snake is anerythristic. But the best way to get an answer is to post a picture on the boa forum and ask the people there. Good luck.

has the belly always been pink?i've noticed on some boas this seems to occur naturally, but in some cases it happens because the bottom of the cage is too moist for too long ( sort of a rash, maybe? ) i've had people try to sell me a special "red belly boa" that had this problem!

its really weird, i dont actually remember how pink her belly was before, i'v had her for 2 years and i love her alot but i can't remember if she had a white or pink belly. but there are some under parts on her (like her chin) that is a whitish/yellow collor and some scales under there are starting to turn pink, so i think this has just started to happen, but i keep noticing how all of her colors are changing, the white rings she had around her tail are now light brown. but also her cage does get damp sometimes, im going to stop using news paper, maybe the beda beast dirt, any suggestions?

actually,i use newspaper myself.it isn't asthetically pretty, but it's cheap(or free)and easy to change.it's just gotta be changes whenever it's soiled or wet(all of it)so i go through a lot of it.everybody's got their favorite,a lot of people like aspen bedding or coconut shavings.(nice looking, but expensive and a lot of people just clean the soiled part-i like to wash the whole cage bottom after they pee)just not pine shavings, because they're toxic.
check the snake out after it sheds-it's possible that it'll lose some of that pink with the shed skin,i've seen that happen.or maybe it just has a little pink in it's coloring naturally.i've seen that happen too!

i think it is her color, i lookd at it real good in the light today and its a real peachy color, and there are alot of spots in it that are more peach that look kinda pink, but whatever color it is i'll keep looking at it and see if her whole underside is becoming that color.

great!if it's more "peachy" then there's a much better chance that it's a natural coloration than if it's like a bright reddish pink(though some times that is natural too)sounds like a beauty, got any pictures?

Anery Boas have no red or pink pigment. Haven't you ever seen a Anery baby Boa?
