Hello everyone,
I have a problem and cant seem to find a solution anywhere! I have a piece of drift wood in my turtle tank and over time these tiny little bugs have come to call the wood home. I have no idea on how to get rid of them, I have tried everything, they run on water so I cant drown them. I know that they are not harming the turtles, but they tick me off. I have broken the ENTIRE tank down and cleaned it, I have scrubed and soaked and I even baked the wood in my oven! Any help will be GREATLY appriciated.

I was going to suggest baking the wood in the oven but then I read where you said you did that. Did you bake it at 250 for an hour? Maybe you didn't bake it long enough?
Maybe try boiling the wood on top of the stove. Try soaking it in 9 parts water to 1 part bleach for an hour. Then rinse it in antichlor water & set in in the sun for a while.
Maybe someone else will have a suggestion for you that'll work.

I baked it at 175, I'll def. have to try out those other suggestions. Thanx for the info.
