Snake bleeding

Eric East Jan 28, 2006 11:15 AM

I've got a question for you guys.

I'm not overly concerned, but last night, I noticed a little bit of blood on my female's chin & a small spot, perhaps the size of a pencil eraser on the bedding of the cage.
There were 2 dead rats in the cage that didn't appear to have been chewed on so I don't think she cut her mouth on a claw.
I wiped the blood away & looked in her mouth & didn't see the source of the bleeding.

Any way, this morning all seems well & one of the rats has been eaten.
Any ideas what may have happened?

Thanks!

Eric

Eric,

That would be hard to determine. The rats didn’t have blood coming from them? And your snake was cleared also?

I see blood sometimes from F/T rats and chicks prior to feeding. I have seen rat blood on the walls of the cage during feeding.

Snake bleeding:
I think it was Dean that brought up liquid bandage once. I bought some and keep it on hand in the snake room. Just in case I need it or one of my snakes might during breeding time.

My guess is rat blood. The snake may have taken a bite, shake, and release.

Dann…
