My first lizard

Cavala Jan 28, 2006 12:09 PM

I need advice in finding the right lizard for begginers in the field. I'm already familiar with snakes. Just want to branch out and explore something a wee bit different. Any recomendations? useful links?
Thx

Hello Cavala:
The reccomendations I gave in the last post would also apply here. Blue-Tongues (T. s. scincoides) are a great first lizard as are Bearded Dragons, especially since you already have the basics of reptile care down. Another Lizard I have always enjoyed is the Asian Water Dragon (Physignathus coccincinus). These guys can become phenomonally tame and responsive to their owners. Though hardy they can be a little difficult to start with. Any of the above mentioned species can easily draw a person into the wonderful world of lizards.
I hope this info helps. I'm sure others out there will offer equally interesting species to add to your list of choices. Good luck and have a Great day!!!
