I would say maybe a year.
This depends on the growth rate of the snake.
There are a lot of formulas and ideas on just how much room they need.
Some say more, some say less.

There is one general size standard that seems to be widely accepted so lets go with that for and idea.....
The tank should be at least as long down one side and one end as the snake is long.
So, if you have a 48 inch snake and the it is in an enclosure 36 inches long and 12 inches front to back then in theory that tank is large enough.

There are many who would say this isn't large enough. The larger the better, period. More room equals happy snakes.

When it comes to young corns this is not true. There are many many occaisions when small corns are put in enclosures too large and are stressed. They should start in small "cozy" enclosures and be moved up as they grow.

One other thing that you see constantly is new corn snake owners writing in and asking "what's wrong with my snake?"
"I have this big fancy tank and my corn stays under the water bowl all the time."
Corns are not quite as active as people tend to believe.
They do get out and about and some are more active then others but they aren't usually out cruising their tanks all day long. Unless something is wrong.
They are more crepuscular so when they do roam it tends to be more around dawn or dusk.
My point is, sometimes too large of tanks can be a waste of space. It can sometimes be beneficial to section really large tanks to accomodate more then one snake.

and of course, these are just my opinions on the subject
