O/T Thanks everyone for your well wishes * But I lost my Grizzly

PHEve Jan 28, 2006 03:13 PM

We lost our Grizzly Friday night, our hearts are shattered..

I have not updated since we found he had intestinal cancer. We were given an option of chemo, and could give him some remission time, so we took it. Although his appetite had never really returned after surgery, he did atleast after the first/second chemo treatment have 2 weeks that he did not throw up and be sick.

During the 2 weeks that he was feeling better, we offered only the best meats, cooked just for him but he would only take a few tidbits here and there. They and we, were encouraged that
he even did that.

We took some nice walks Grizzly and I, and talked a few times a day about the pretty scenery, and how cool it was that he was feeling better and acting happier.
But then thursday morning he got me up and I noticed he did not seem well, he was trembling, and looked sick.
He was and it continure to get worse, the vet said he may have an infection from his stomach surgery and we went and picked up antibiotics.

He was really sick by late that night, I layed down with him and we didn't talk or kiss like usual We rushed him to the hospital early friday morning, and they said they would call us after some tests.

We went back last night and they said Grizzly had a bad infection all through his intestines where the cancer was and seemed to be losing the battle. They broght him to us and he was laying on a table, he sat up (poor baby) and was happy to see us. My Husband and I needed some time alone with him, as we were told it would be better not to go on.
I held him tight and whispered in his ear how much I loved him as he left us .

This is so hard, and I'm taking a few days for myself, heres a pretty pic of Grizzly in happier days.

Thanks to all who posted their prayers and well wishes when I first told you a couple weeks ago, meant alot.

My Beautiful Grizzly

Eve-a number of years ago my wife and I lost our beloved "SUBA" a balck collie mix we just loved. She got cancer as diagnosed but unfortunately she was not treatable, in spite of her condition she contiunued for the short time to wag her tail and love us even thought we knew she wasn't feeling well. How great the bonds that are developed over time. We finally for her own good had her put to sleep upon the recomendation of our vet. We haven't had a dog since, as the experience was hard-that was about 5 years ago. We have been discusing now finding another so I am sorry and know the gravity of your loss....
