I have 2 male RES about 6 years old (maybe edging 7)
One of the males is only 5.5 inches long and the other is nearing 7 and simply look bigger in all aspects.
I'm wondering is there such thing as too much basking? Just recently my larger RES has been on the basking rocks for 5-7 hours a day! I know he loves it a lot but I'm just wondering if hes bigger then the other RES simply because he doesn't exercise as much? He looks healthy (no bulging of the arms and stuff) so I'm wondering why my other RES (I raised at the same time) is much smaller.
My small RES will join the big one in basking for maybe a few hours a day or less. The big one will jump into the water once in a while but will eventually come back up to bask within minutes. Sometimes even when it's nearing 8pm and getting dark he'll still be up there. I turn off the basking heat lamp and he'll stay there for 30 minutes or so..
So curious should I limit his basking time or nah, it's fine the way it is?
