The trouble with wild feeders is you don't know where they have been. Because they have a slower metabolism tahn say, crciekts, it will take longer to get out any negative substance - worst being pesticides.
You can buy roaches and start a colony. There are some non-climbers, orangehead and discoid are two (I keep these). I used to have lobster roaches and Luna liked them, but the climbing and speed was a real pain in the butt ;-/
days be ok? They would be hard to keep in a contianer, just becuase they can climb on vrtually every surface and are very fast.
Because these are becoming a more popular feeder there are several online sources: www.blaberus.com for one. Some species take longer to get established but I would guess quicker in the south; I am in NH and unless I keep heat on them all the time, their breeding is only moderate. I have found that the OH are more prolific than the discoid.
The really nice things about these is they do not smell, will eat anything and live for a long time.
