AFP 28 January 06 Tame iguana floods apartment block
Berlin (AFP): A pet iguana unwittingly turned on a tap while its owner was absent, flooding his apartment and damaging the ones below, police in the southwest German city of Stuttgart.
The reptile, a female nearly one metre (three feet) long, turned on the hot tap, apparently with a swipe of its tail. The water flowed for hours Saturday, trickling down as far as the basement of the building.
Police alerted by neighbours broke into the flat to find the iguana lying unmoved under a radiator, in a pool of water.

SUNDAY MIRROR (London, UK) 29 January 06 Plight Of The Iguana
Police got a real shock when they called to investigate a large packing crate in a quiet lane - it contained a 6ft-long iguana.
"It's fair to say the lid went back on the box pretty quickly," PC Paul Inkpin of Kent police said yesterday. The huge lizard, which was starving and freezing, was put down by RSPCA officers.
