Veild wont close his mouth.

herpersteve Jul 25, 2003 08:18 PM

I currently own a pair of veild chameleons (male and female). The four month old male is housed right next to the female and I will always see him with his mouth slightly opened. I am thinking it might be some sort of mating thing, or possibly a dehydration thing, I'm really not sure. Does anyone have an idea as to what it is?

pobably basking .. make a visual barrier between the m because it causes stress ... raise the heat lamp up a little, to lower the temperature a little, so he isn't basking all the time ... usually if the mouth is ALWAYS open, the temperature is too high!
hope this helps

Thank you for the help. I do have a barrier between at the top, so they generally can't see eachother. I'll try lowering the temp., thanks again.
