Could I ask which type of toads that you use in the US for hognoses? While i couldnt feed one to a hog i could try scenting from them. i have westerns and southerns.?

I don't think you'd need to go out of your way to get a US native toad to scent with. Hognoses have responded to numerous types of scent aren't always toads based including treefrogs, chicken eggs, and tuna fish.
Two into your question directly, I think that almost any toad would do, including Fowlers, Americans, Woodhouse's, etc. Southern hognoses seem to love spadefoot toads.
