Pied value...

ralph Jan 29, 2006 03:21 PM

Hello,

Just posted this question in the regular forum because I didn't notice this one. I want to know what the prices for piebalds is expected to be this year and next. At Daytona in '05 it seemed that everyone had a piebald on their table. Will the fact that this morph is being crossed with others, raise, lower, or stablize the value of pure pieds? Is it worth investing in one now for 4500 or waiting a year or two?

Ralph i think you should take a look at all the ball python classifieds because ive seen some pieds posted for 3500,3000...just got to keep your eye out for those deals...but i dont really think pieds in the next couple of years are gonna go down in price much because people are trying so many different projects with them...but if you have the money now i would recomend getting one...hope this helps

I think what you will see is the same with most simple recessive morphs...they will kinda stabilize, then a lot of breeders will hold back animals to plug in the dom, or codom genes, or cross with other simple recessives, then the price will start to come down again.

In the grand scheme of things the price will fall....Supply and Demand. The higher the price an animal starts out at the faster it will fall. People who invested money into the pied morph will be looking to recoupe their investment. So competetion between breeders benefits the consumer. There is still money to be made but it may take a couple years to break even and then show a profit. In my opinion, best time to get in is at the beginning if you can afford it our toward the middle of the trend.
