How long can a ball python stay in a 15-3/8"D x 8-3/4"W x 5-3/4"H enclosure?

Turtlequest Jan 29, 2006 06:20 PM

I am making a racking system with tubs of this dimension.

15-3/8"D x 8-3/4"W x 5-3/4"H

So how long can a ball stay in an enclosure of that size? At least a year or two? If not, what is the ideal enclosure size?

Thanks for the help.

A year maybe, most likely less. It really depends on how quickly it will grow. As noted several places in the forum they don't all grow at the same pace. I would use that size for hatchlings and anything up to two feet in length. After that you'll need something larger.

For ground dwelling snakes, the long side plus the short side should be equal or more than the length of the snake.
