Central American Banded Gecko

herpersteve Jul 25, 2003 08:29 PM

My Central American Banded Gecko only seems to eat about once a week and it only eats about 2-3 crickets. I have had him about three months now and his tail does appear a bit thinner. How often do CABG's normally eat? Does anyone know any place with good information on the CABG? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a trio of CA Bandeds. Mine like to eat 5-6 times a week. Some choose to feed theres less but I guess I spoil them. They most likely are wild caught and may need dewormed. That may be the cause of the lack of appetite. Are you sure you have them set up proper? They require higher humidity than all other bandeds.

Thanks for the imput. I have him in a 10 gal. w/ an open top. Some live plants are in there and I generally spray his cage twice a day. I have a 50 watt bulb on him, the temp stays in 70-80 range. He's got 2 hide boxes. There's a bark substrate. Could i need moss in one of his hide boxes?

I put moss in my CA banded gecko tank to incress the humitity and i add 10 criketes in two times a week, also i leave a dish of small dushed mealworms out for them, sometimes they wont eat if its light outside becasue there nocturnal, if you want more info on these lizards try reading gecko books from local pet stores they tend to give a little info on them and Sundialreptiles (sorry i probably spelt that wrong) has care info on them as well. These are great little geckos, i've had mine for 6 yrs now, and i'm up to 8. 6 yr is a long time for these little geckos but she seems to be going strong.
