I know folks ask the breeding size of a male boa all the time but I can not remember right now and I can't find an old post that has it and its hard to find that online. So could someone please tell me. I have a 6.5 foot female and about a 3 foot male, would that work because my big 5.5 foot male just wants to lay around. haha

Generally, a male successfully breeds at 1.5 - 2 years. Some yearlings have successfully bred, but they have a greater chance of unfertilized ova (slugs) or injury from the much larger female.
I had a male I thought was going to dud out and do nothing this season, but he is just now deciding he likes females. Don't count your 5.5 foot male out. She may just not be sending out the "I'm ready" signal yet.
Don't risk your tiny male if you don't have to.
Good luck.

I agree with Laura. I had a large male who showed no interest, so I took him out. I put in my 3 1/2 footer, and he was all over this large female who's close to 7 ft. So I then put the larger male in with the other two and POW. The larger male took over big time. If I would take the little one out, the larger one would get lazy, so I left all three together. Both would be spurring the female, but only the large male would be lined up, while the smaller male would be spurring her mid-section or the other males body.
Here's the intro of the 3 1/2 footer. This is his 2nd year courting, and he produced a litter last year at under 3 foot long.

I've done it occasionally without any problems. I generally like to know who the father is so I'd rather it be 1 on 1. Back in the 80's boas were commonly bred in large groups being put together. I've never heard of male Boas combating. I've heard of females being aggresive to a male, but I've never seen it.

I have done it in the past and I know allot of people that do it and never had any problems. someone here last year had a litter that was fathered by 2 different males, I think one male was a motley and Im not sure what the other male was but it was a mixed litter.

its fair to say its safe BCI's,maybe thats what he needs ,but it sounds like the female isn't ready, for some reason i don't know, were they cooled or not and she cicling ,i would throw the small male in will both of them and see what happens, check quitely and see.this litter came from a male that was 16 months old and 3 1/2 foot maybe abit longer not much though.1 slug 5 sunglows 2 of them lipsticks 4 albinos 8 hypos and 5 normals, and it was a het to het breeding
