Wheezing snake.....

phiber_optikx Jan 30, 2006 03:05 AM

I was just curious.... Wilson has been wheezing for several weeks now. Before I was told that he may have just had some skin retained around his nasal due to his constant not so great sheds (even keeping humidity at 90% hasn't completely solved it...) But he had a good (I got all of the shed off) shed today and he is still wheezing. He doesn't seem to be acting sick. He is still active and alert and doesn't have any mucas, open mouth, sores, or any other symptoms. Is this something I should worry about? If he gets any worse I will take him to the vet but he doesn't seem to have any negative consequences and has never had a regurge. Any helpfull advice? Thanks.

I have heard that some kinds of substrate can be a bit dusty. You might want to try putting him on a paper towel substrate and see if that fixes the wheezing.

Thanks for the suggestion. He is on reptibark which can be a bit dusty. On Friday I will be changing all of my cages over to carpet anyway. Thanks again.
