Has anyone been feeding his/her chameleons with mealworm beetles?I've read that they do use them indeed but what about their nutrisional value?
Do the same stand for superworm beetles?

I have a jackson and he loves them. I use them only as a nice crunchy snake they have more shell then meat ratio. and the sheell if fed often can be rough to digest. Same as supers. However the super beetles use a defense oder and I have read some chams spitting them out. Good luck Matt
I feed mealworm beetles more than the worms themselves - excellent
variety, and good crunchiness. They eat far crunchier things in the wild,
so some isn't bad for them.
Superworm beetles have a more powerful defensive chemical than
tenebrio(regular mealworms). I've neer met a chameleon that would not
spit them out - unless rinsed off!
Chameleons go nuts fo rsuperworm beetles, and if they're rinsed well,
don't seem to notice the taste (which I've acidentally tasted myself - I'd
spit the thing out too, even if it wasn't a bug!)
One of the things they eat a lot of in the wild are beetles. Plus, they're
probably designed to eat a lot more bug to meat than they get in
captivity. Ground dwelling crickets, soft roaches, grubs and assorted
larvae - how often would they get such treats in the wild?
Most of the time they're probbaly crunching numbers of far less
nutritious beetles, grasshoppers and flies. A few crunchies here and
there will not even show up in their stool, let alone upset their digestive
system.
Great for mixing up the diet
