MTS????PTS????

johndoe10688 Jul 25, 2003 09:32 PM

Is there anyone who sells cb monkey tail skinks? I am thinking about getting my first lizard. I am looking for a lizard that is exotic and would make a calm docile pet. I don't want a bearded dragon or a gecko b/c they seem too common. I do have experience with many types of lizards b/c i work at a pet store. So I was just wondering how to go about obtaining a baby cb MTS.
Thanks
John

If you want a large skink, I would look into the various types of blue tongue skinks instead of PTS. Most types are less expensive and easier to locate than PTS, they don't have quite the complicated husbandry needs, and they make better pets (less scratching) in my opinion. I also think BTS are more 'attractive' than PTS.
That said- please don't get a reptile pet for the exotic factor. These guys live a long time, and need and deserve good care. I personally love bearded dragons and think they make much better pets than most skinks. Some of the 'common' reptiles are common because they do pretty well as pets with relatively easy care and tolerate handling (iguanas don't fall into this category :P )
