While I'm certainly not an expert on vet issues and medical care, I think you are right on in removing the snake from your others to prevent spread of infection/disease/parasites. It will also allow less stress to your sick snake and perhaps facilitate observation. When I think of respiratory infections, I think of ensuring the snake has a clean, dry enclosure with sufficient heat. Sounds like you are doing the right things until you can get a vet. Best wishes to your snake.

My kingsnake sometimes takes mouse fuzzies or pinkies sideways.

I'm glad that the vet gave you a plan of action. I hope that all goes well with this guy.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

I am in the midst of treating a RI in a Calking. She got sick during a transport. The vet gave me some Baytril injections for her on the 5th of January. Ten injections..one every other day. I finished the round of meds and she was doing much better as her mucus was not longer present and she was eating well and gaining weight. Howevershe was still a bit raspy and clearly not completely healed.

Now that she has been off the meds for one week the mucus is increasing in her body again so we are putting her back on Baytril with the expecations of keeping her on it for at least a month. Sorry to drag this out but I just wanted to let you know that sometimes these things do take time to heal and even after treatment you need to keep an eye the snake and keep the temps up for a while to help it out.

Good luck.

Well we just got back from the vet. The doc said that it is probably respotory and/or digestive. so he is on Cefotaxime for 14 days and we impationtly await the results of his cultures. they took three cultures treacia, throat, and vent.
