HELP...

After feeding my butter, I put him back in his enclosure. He started moving around when I noticed the very tip of his tail looked odd. He shed a liitle more than a week ago and I remember reading somewhere about the tip of the tail dying from the skin remaining after a shed. Anyways, I picked him up and while I was examining it, he squirmed out of my hands and the tiny piece fell off. It's a very tiny piece but I could see a tiny drop of blood on the tip of his body. I always make sure to check all my snakes for pieces of unshed skin, but since he's a light color I must have missed it. Can his tail get infected now? Should I just leave it alone? Will it heal itself? What does it look like as the snake matures?

Thanks for any info...

John

I recomend putting neosporin on the wound and rename him stumpy.... He should be ok. Unfortunately this is a pretty common ocurance.

Neosporin on the tip of the tail, move him to a cage (if he isn't already on it) with just papertowel or unprinted newsprint. It should heal up pretty fast as long as it stays clean and doesn't get infected.

Thanks for the advice, I put a dab of Bacitracin on it, since I didn't have any Neosporin. Doesn't seem to bother him at all but I'll keep an eye on it.
