Black Milk rapid growth...

Keith Hillson Jan 31, 2006 12:25 AM

I measured my 2005 San Antonio Black Milk today and back on the 17th. Seems he has grown better than 1 inch in less than 2 weeks ! I realize Black Milks get big but this guy has that body structure Ive long recognized in Kings that can sometimes fortell a real large adult size. The look Im referring to is a snake that is long and lean no matter how much you feed it. These animals seem to put all growth into length and then start to bulk up after a reaching young adult size. Im in noway saying this is always the case but its simply an observation Ive had in keeping and breeding snakes the last 18 years or so. Here are the pics of the 2005 male. Ive used a 6" ruler to measure against and measured him using the Serpwidgets program.

Here is a really big female Tangerine Honduran I got from Jason Hood. She is a October 2005 hatch. She measured out at 18.47"

Hello,
Mine maintained a similar growth rate (over 2 inches per month) for about the first 2 years of their lives. They sure are incredible animals.
