Genetics question?

RaverTanker Jan 31, 2006 12:26 AM

Hey guys, I am thinking of getting some burms. My question is, what offspring variations do you get when you breed a female albino burm to a regular green burm? Thanks.

If you mean breeding an albino with the normal pattern (not a green albino) that does not happen to carry the gene for green/patternless to a non-albino green that does not carry the albino gene you will get 4 variations...that all look exactly the same (like a normal brown burm). Some completely normal, some carrying either the albino or patternless genes and some carrying both. You will not be able to tell them apart...

That's incorrect. All offspring will be het for green and het for albino. All will look normals.

Whoopsi, you are absolutely right! Complete brain spasm on my part... I gave an answer for breeding a het albino to a het green. Duh!
