normal vs. albino

Zacaroo Jan 31, 2006 04:20 PM

I cant decide if i should get a normal burm or an albino.
Here are the pros and cons of both that ive heard of.

ALBINO PROS:I heard they tend to be slightly smaller, they are very beautiful
ALBINO CONS:Ive heard they are more likely to be aggressive.

NORMAL PROS:I heard that normals are almost always nice.
NORMAL CONS:There not as good lookin as albinos.

So can yall tell me if these are correct or not and which you would recommend.

Thanks

Don't take this personally, but whoever gave you this information doesn't know what they are talking about....period. Albinos can attain the same lengths and weights as normals. They can be just as docile as normals; or, in some cases, just as ornery (it really depends on how much time the owner invests in the animal). In terms of looks, as they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I personally like normals and the next person will like albinos. In terms of "worth", burms, even expensive morphs, are a dime a dozen....you should be able to acquire one w/out paying a single penny; anything more than that, and you got royally taken.

Zacaroo -
I will go with Rob on the bad info. I also think the normals have a better look.

You shouldn't pay anything for burms? I guess I got taken.. lol
I paid $65 for mine when it was about 20 inches at a show in Birmingham, AL., which was really cheap to me. (Where I live IF a pet shop has one for sale they run between $150 - $300, depending on size/morph)

In Chicago, many burms become abandoned (even high end morphs) and the CHicago Herp. Society does a real nice job in creating networks with members in finding homes for these animals. I have received some amazing looking burms for ZIPPO.

I have an albino because she was free but if i was to buy a burmese it would be a normal het for nothing.
I think the albino's are so inbred that they have become weak snakes, many will disagree but inbreeding is just not healthy.
And the color of the snake has nothing to do with its size or temperment.
