Most diseases are species specific. Some diseases which are zoonotic can be communicable from animals to humans or vice versa. but a common cold or flu isn't one of these. (yes I know there are exeptions, like avian flu, swine flu, etc...) Usually, the germs simply can't live in a host that is so different from what they're used to.
