Capture the sun bulbs?

yakob Jan 31, 2006 08:49 PM

Anybody use these for there cyclura? Got a couple and they don't seem to put out very much heat. I am thinking there were designed for smaller inclosures. It states that the animal should not by closer than 12" from the bulb. They need to be about 6" to get any real heat from them. I currently use the 250w heat lamps that are put in bathrooms and they work great. How is the heat output of the powersuns? I think I just might use both.

I dont get enough heat out of Powersuns either. To ge the proper heat they were too close to my lizards. I stopped using them and went to halogen floods for more heat.

I think they are designed for aquariums. They need to make some for room size enclosures!

You may want to look at the Mega Rays at www.reptileuv.com. They will customize bulbs for your situation.

I also incorportate halogen flood bulbs in my enclosures for extra heat. They are invaluable for the real heat loving animals like Tegus, Monitors, and Uromastyx. They are inexpensive and easy on your electric bill.
