Two more new additions

xblackheart Feb 01, 2006 02:19 AM

As if the 27 snakes I already had were not enough, I had to get two more. My local breeder was holding out on me. He was saving some of his best patterned snakes until the end of the season. There were many to choose from, but these are the two I picked. One is partial zigzag and the other is a stripe. Both snows. Sorry for the bad pics -camera/flash is going bad

Is it me, or does the top one look emaciated? I thought you weren't supposed to see the backbone.

I know what you mean. They look like hatchlings, but are not. Trust me, though, they are not as bad as the pic. You can not see back bone. One has a stripe all down its back. I will try to get better pics. Both these were hold-backs because they were not eating well. The breeder will not sell them until they have eaten three meals on their own. Both were fed the day of the pic (last night) and have a bulge. I will be watching them closely. I have one problem feeder I am feeding a head to every three days. I will get these two up to good weight, too.

Here are two more pics. I put one of my other babies in for contrast. I think you can see the patterns a little better.

Hard to tell... but you obviously know what you're doing, and it's lucky for the snake to now be in your care.

Good luck fattening him up!

I know this will sound condascending even though it is not meant that way but....If the snakes were problem eaters shouldn't they be settling in for a while?

The breeder had fed them right before I bought them. They had eaten at least three meals on their own, or he would not have sold them.
I do not take your comment personally. .
Yes, they need to be left alone for a bit while they digest and settle. I have only held them to take the pics.
