one thing you can do is use "great stuff" foam from the hardware store. Spray it in the back to coat it, and you can cut and mold it to however you see fit. Then make some mortar or thick spackle and add some dye to it. All available at the hardware store....let it set and add another layer of mortar....bingo...a nice rock background that wont be as heavy as pure concrete

hmm...never heard of it...but it probably contains all the standard cement/mortar/stucco ingredients. Just let it dry and give it a good wash down with a water/bleach mix to get all residue off...let me know the results

do you recommend for mixing a Grout Acrylic Additive in place of the water. i was told it The Additive gives the grout pliability to contract and expand with changes in humidity and temp. And therefore protects the grout from becoming brittle. this will be for a dwarf monitor .so it wont be high humidity but is the animale trys to climb i want to make sure it holds.

thanks sean

good question...but I'm not sure of an answer. As long as there is no dust and the monitor can't scratch the mortar and ingest pieces, you should be ok...
