Mud Snakes (Farancia abacura) are very difficult captives and are best left to very experienced keepers. Their primary prey is large aqautic salamanders, namely sirens and amphiumas. They will do ok in moistened cypress mulch with a large waterbowl. If you can provide these conditions for the snake, then you may have some luck keeping it. Otherise, I'd reccomend releasing it where you found it ASAP.

can i feed them the basic tree frog?
Only neonates or small juveniles will take tree frogs. A Mud Snake over 24" will probably hold out for sirens or amphiumas.

Mud snakes are very easy to keep in captivity.
Scenting live rat pups with a thawed out piece of ampihuma works wonders.
Place the live rat pups in a shallow bowl and leave them overnight.
Mud snakes are nocturnal and will devor them overnight.
After a few feedings using this method, cut back on how much you scent the rat pup, and very soon, they will be accustomed to taking un-scented rat pups with ease.
You CANNOT use mice, they have to be hairless, because mud snakes do not digest mammalian fur and often refuse it.
Thats why rat pups work well.
