Geckos are small to average sized lizards belonging to the family Gekkonidae, found in warm climates throughout the world, whose name stems from the unique vocalizations these animals make. Gekkonidae is the largest family of lizards, with an estimated 2,000 different species worldwide. Excluding the Eublepharinae family, all geckos have a transparent membrane which they lick to clean instead of eyelids. Most Gecko species will expel a foul-smelling material and feces onto their aggressors and/or drop their tails as a defense. Many Gecko species are well known for their specialized toe pads that enable them to climb smooth and vertical surfaces. Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of all Geckos. .
