The Garter Snake, genus (Thamnophis), is a Colubrid snake common across North America, ranging from Alaska and Canada to Central America. Garter Snakes are the single most widely distributed genus of reptile in North America due to its unparticular diet and adaptability to different habitats. Garter snakes are carnivores, their diet consisting of almost any creature that they are capable of overpowering including slugs, earthworms, leeches, lizards, amphibians, birds, fish, toads and rodents. Garter snakes often adapt to eat whatever they can find, and whenever, because food can be scarce or abundant. Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of all Garter and Ribbon Snakes.
