A few of the smaller submersibles *might* work OK but I and my Spotteds like the ZooMed 501. It's a small external filter that provides a gentle "waterfall" that they enjoy greatly!
Not as effective (needs media changes more frequently) as a big cannister but a big filter is too much flow for these guys.
