The complete lack of enforcing truck emissions laws ESP in Miami area ,dumping, etc are the culprits are native fauna decline in Florida.

Red ear sliders seem to have found a niche in canals that native turtles died off yrs ago before sliders due to water being polluted.
The do nothing useless bunch in both parties who run Florida rather go after turtles than have to adress the real issues of native fauna decline.
