what do you mean by burns???

i was gone for the weekend, and my cane toad was home alone for almost 48 hours and when i came home, he sorta has these weird white spots on him! what does that mean? i've been changing his water dish daily (except for when i was gone) but i haven't been changing his dirt daily. does the dirt need to be changed daily too?
